Education

What’s the difference between intervention and education?

An education style approach focuses on knowledge application, embedding and recall. The Allotment Education programmes are traditionally delivered over 12 weeks.

Allotment Intervention

Our educational sessions focus on the fundamental skills of how to raise plants from seed and the processes around this. We can link with your Design and Technology curriculum to ensure your school is growing a portion of the ingredients named in your recipes. Children can see first-hand, what it takes to raise food from seed and the impact this has on the environment.

Below is a list of our core syllabus

  • Seed sowing and germination
  • Seedling care
  • Planting
  • Correct watering
  • Organic plant husbandry

All our methods and most of our seeds are organic. We work hard to instil the importance of being organic with our learners throughout the key stages. We practice companion planting and working with nature, rather than attempting to manipulate it.
